We awoke early and did not even bother with breakfast, hoping to get back to the car and out of the rain as quickly as possible. Unfortunately the map and shoreline did not match up exactly, and we had to search around for the pull-out point. We eventually found our car, lamenting the lack of moose on the trip. However, on the shuttle back from our drop-off point, Marci and I saw a big bull moose cross, and then gallop alongside the road we were driving along, with the big flap of skin under his chin swinging back and forth as he ran.

After securing the boats and packing up the cars, we drove to Grand Marais where we ate at the Angry Trout Café which sells only sustainably caught fish, organic veggies, and free range chicken. It was delicious. Afterwards Josh, Emily and I bought smoked lake trout next door. Fortunately on the drive back to Outward Bound, we saw another moose and I was able to make good on my promises of seeing Northern Lights and moose to everyone in the group!
