Day 9: Corcovado to San Jose

Saturday, March 18, 2006

We woke early for a breakfast of papaya, banana, peanuts and crackers (everything we had left), and hiked to ride the collectivo to Puerto Jimenez. We bummed around P.J. for a few hours using the pharmacy for antibiotics and getting ice cream to cool us down. We then started our journey back to the US, flying to San Jose where we stayed at a bed and breakfast called, “Cinco Hormigas Rojas” (“Five Red Ants,” www.cincohormigasrojas.com). The owner was clearly inspired by Frida Kahlo, and had many different surfaces throughout the house, such as toilet seats and shelves, covered in paintings. She also had a bird sanctuary in her yard, and interesting art and plants growing everywhere. We highly recommend it if you’re ever in San Jose.
