We arrived at the Leavenworth ranger station yesterday afternoon to plan our
trip. Not surprisingly, the Enchantments were completely booked. The ranger
recommended we try a hike with lakes named after Brigham Young's wives, and
come back later in the week to try the Enchantments lottery. This plan sounded
good so we camped along Icicle Creek. The 6.75 mile, 2500 foot hike up to Lake Margaret was a standard East
Cascades forest walk. I don't remember much other than I was surprisingly tired
for something this length (as if it's ever any different). The lake was very
pretty in the late afternoon, very still, with a gorgeous reflection of a
mountain behind it. There were barely any campsites, but we were fortunate to
be the only ones here. |
